Chinese Cupping dates back from the year 281 AD. It was then an ancient Taoist medical practise and widely used in the courts of Imperial China. Back then they would have used animal horns for cups. Here at the Centre we use the traditional flame style cupping. This is done by heating bamboo and glass cups with a small flame, creating a vacuum and placing the cups on various points of pain, or acu-points. The suction created by the flame allows what we call in TCM stagnant blood and Qi (that is generally found deep inside the belly or a sore muscle or joint), this is forced up the the surface of the skin, allowing nutrient and oxygen rich blood back into the area. This is a very simple process, but incredibly healing. Alongside this we use herbal blends onto the skin and the cups help the body absorb these into the blood system. Cupping helps to relieve swelling and pain. Unblocks lymph nodes along the spine, which in turn helps the body work more efficiently. Cupping can be included as part of an acupuncture session (Free of charge), or alternatively a 30 minute massage followed by cupping is available. Please be aware that Cupping can leave slight painless marks (YinZi) on the skin. These can last up to 3 weeks depending on the severity of the condition. Chinese Cupping helps to treat the following conditions: Sciatica, Arthritis, Back, Neck & Shoulder Pain, IBS, Asthma, Sinusitis, Painful Periods, Frozen Shoulder and so much more.
